Hey folks, Whitecap Willie here.
Winter has officially settled in across our region, and while the snow can make for a beautiful landscape, it can also make things a little tricky for trash pickup crews. Our drivers work hard to keep service running smoothly, even when the temperatures drop and the roads get slick.
One of the best ways you can help your local trash service during winter is by making sure your trash bins are easy to access. When snow piles up around driveways and sidewalks, it can make it difficult for our trucks and drivers to safely reach your containers. If possible, clear a small path to your bin and place it in a spot that’s visible and reachable from the road.
Another helpful tip is to keep lids closed tightly. Snow and ice can add weight to your bins if the lid is left open, and nobody wants frozen trash stuck inside a container. Keeping everything sealed also prevents wind from blowing trash around your property or your neighborhood.
During heavy winter storms, there may occasionally be delays in pickup routes. Safety is always the top priority for our crews and the communities we serve. If weather conditions become dangerous, our drivers may have to slow down routes or postpone service until roads improve. When that happens, we always work to resume service as quickly as possible.
The best way to stay informed about schedule changes or weather-related updates is by following our Facebook page. We’ll post route updates, delay notices, and helpful reminders so you always know what’s going on.
Winter may bring its challenges, but with a little cooperation from everyone, we can keep things running smoothly. Thanks for doing your part and helping our crews stay safe on the roads.
We appreciate you being part of the Whitecap Waste family. Stay warm out there, and we’ll see you on pickup day. That’s the Whitecap way.
